Get The Hottest Films Online

By Brian Hines

I have made a sampling of the movies released this year (2008). I have chosen a few of the movies that I think you might like. I hope you find a couple of movies that are good viewing.

10,000 B.C.: This movie takes us back 1,000's of years. When a warlike tribe storms the Yaghai people, they ride off with some of the people, including the lovely Evolet. A young hunter named D'Leh, who is in love with her, leads a group of hunters to pursue the warlords, and save her, and the rest of the captured tribe members.

TWENTY ONE: This movie tells the actual tale of M.I.T. wiz kids who built a team of blackjack winners. This team of blackjack players learned to beat the game, and then performed an assault on the casinos. To beat the games in Vegas, where players who beat the game can be banned from playing, they had to change casinos often, and disguise themselves, so they wouldn't get caught. This movie is based on the best selling book that tells how the M.I.T. teams made millions playing blackjack.

BOLT: Bolt is a fun animation. Bolt is a dog actor, whom in his TV show, has superpowers. His problem is that he is convinced he has these powers. After he is unexpectedly put into a real life situation, he discovers that he is only a normal dog. On a journey to get back home, he is helped by Rhino and Mittens, his newly found hamster and cat friends.

JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH: Searching for his brother, Professor Trevor Anderson travels to Iceland, and that sends him into the depths of our planet. This is a remake of the 1959 film, which was based on the classic novel by celebrated writer Jules Verne. Directed by Eric Brevig, and starring Brendan Fraser.

Jumper: Nearing death by drowning, David Rice (Hayden Christensen) learns something incredible. He can actually teleport himself to anywhere he desires to be, anytime he wants. Later, he becomes aware that he is not the only one that has this capability. After he becomes used to jumping around the world, he finds out that there are those that think jumpers are a threat, and need to be eliminated. He must fight for his life, as the hunters try to track him down.

THE CHRONICALS OF NARNIA, PRINCE CASPIAN: Just one year has passed in there "regular" lives, when Edmund, Peter, Susan, and Lucy are mysteriously pulled back into Narnia. Prince Caspian has blown Susan's magic horn, praying that he will be saved. 100's of years have passed since they left Narnia, but they now return to save Narnia from the evil Telmarines. With the help of the brave warriors of Narnia, they will fight for the future of Narnia.

ROLE MODELS: Danny and Wheeler, a couple of energy drink promoters, might be seeing some hard jail time because they binged, and trashed the company truck. The way they can avoid jail time is to work in community service for 150 hours. They are assigned to work as mentors with difficult children in a big brother type situation. This is a good situation for some super good laughs.

WALL-E: This film is an animated, comedy, adventure, sci-fi. Earth has been left behind, an uninhabitable wasteland. Waste removal robot, Wall-E, has been left to clean up the mess. When a recon bot (Eve) appears, checking for any signs of life, Walle-E has a friend. When the spaceship returns for Eve, Wall-E stows away, and thus starts the adventure of his robot life.

TROPIC THUNDER: With an abundance of acting talent we soon see this movie is a classic spoof. To get a realistic performance from his spoiled actors to see the movie be a success, the now venturesome director into the wild, and leaves them there by themselves. The object is to frighten them into making a war movie monster, that will be recorded on hidden cameras. When the director steps on an old land mine and dies, the actors are now truly on their own, and they are convinced everything is just an act, when things start to get very real. Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Cruise star.

Most people buy or rent these movies, and views them on their home entertainment system. A new way people are acquiring movies is through downloads from the internet. There are websites that will download tons of different movies. - 16039

The Jubilee of Alabama and Hot-Air Balloons

By Ian Kleine

Been ever to a hot-air balloon festival before?

The Alabama Jubilee Hot-Air Balloon Classic is just that. It's an absolutely awesome place to be in for a balloon enthusiast. Especially if you're living in Alabama, this classic is sure to be an eye-catcher. After all, what person would not turn his head to the sight of dozens of balloons floating up in the air, each decorated with flamboyant and colorful designs.

The Hot-Air Balloon festival of Alabama is probably the oldest among the balloon races in the Southern area, which originated in the city of Decatur at around 1978. The original race had 17 balloonists from the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio, and the other surrounding and near states. Today, it has more than 60 people participating in the annual races.

The events are usually done at the end of the week, when people have their times free and where they can spend it with their families. All the more, it is aligned with the annual Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Because of this, it also has become one of the top 20 Tourism Events in the Southeast Region for May, by the Southeast Tourism Society. And well put, because the balloon jubilee is a very large event. It, not only spans the land and over water, but also the skies.

If you want to be there, the festival is usually held over on the area of Point Mallard Park, a complex which has the water park on it. The venue is well armed with a wave pool (dubbed "America's First Wave Pool") tennis courts, fields, trails, a golf course, a rink and a recreation center. Of course, if you are new to the area, the sight of rising hot-air balloons would clue you in immediately as to where to go to find the site.

You'll have lots of things to do in the jubilee grounds. - 16039

Without Bluetooth There May be a Ticket in Your Future

By Matt Parker

More and more states are recognizing the dangers of using cell phones while driving. Remember the 10 o'clock - 2 o'clock hand positions while driving? If you are caught not following this because of cell phone use you can be busted either by a policeman or worse, meet an accident.

The outlines of the cell phone driving laws are as follows:

Complete Hand Held Bans for All Drivers - Not all states are at a complete cell phone ban. Currently, the states participating in this are California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Washington. The District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands are also for this Law. This means that any driver caught using a handheld phone while driving can be given a ticket. Using a handheld phone by itself is a traffic offense.

Novice Ban - In some states, a driver in probationary status is banned from using hand held phones. The guidelines may differ from state to state. Some would consider drivers under 18, 19 or 21 as novice drivers. Also, people with learners permit, provisional license, first 6 - 12 months of driving, or have a history of getting a ticket or traffic crash are banned from using hand held phones. These states are California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.

School Bus Drivers Ban - When driving a school bus with kids on board law or no law, the drivers should be focusing on the road rather than talking on the phone. Luckily 17 states agree with me like Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Text Messaging Bans - Participated by Alaska, California, Connecticut, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Jersey, Washington and the District of Columbia.

Texting Ban for Novice drivers - Alaska, California, Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.

Texting Ban for School Bus Drivers - Arkansas, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia prohibit bus drivers carrying passengers from texting.

This is the summarized version of the handheld phone law. But before you even think about grabbing your phone while driving, law or no law, look at the facts. A lot of accidents and crashes can be traced to distraction. And guess what the number one distraction is.

Using Bluetooth headsets is the least you can do if you cannot be away from you phone. If you think about the enormity of money being spent for hospital bills due to accidents, repairs or even death, then a couple of bucks for a Bluetooth headset to prevent this sounds real good, right?

No matter how good of a driver you are or you think you are, the facts do not lie. Experts from the Harvard Center or Risk Analysis gleaned that a 20-year-old driver using a handheld phone has the reaction time worse than a 70-year-old. This means 18% slower response to break lights and 17% longer to get his speed up after stopping.

So before you get a ticket or be in an accident, grab a Bluetooth headset. You'll be saving yourself and your family's lives. - 16039

Spokane Steel Foundry and Lean Manufacturing

By Billy Newman

Lean Manufacturing Definition: Lean manufacturing or lean production, which is often known simply as "Lean", is a production practice that considers the expenditure of resources for any goal other than the creation of value for the end customer to be wasteful, and thus a target for elimination. In a more basic term, More value with less work. Lean manufacturing is a generic process management philosophy derived mostly from the Toyota Production System (TPS) (hence the term Toyotism is also prevalent) and identified as "Lean" only in the 1990s[1]. It is renowned for its focus on reduction of the original Toyota seven wastes in order to improve overall customer value, but there are varying perspectives on how this is best achieved. The steady growth of Toyota, from a small company to the world's largest automaker,[2] has focused attention on how it has achieved this.

Lean manufacturing is a variation on the theme of efficiency; it is a present-day instance of the larger recurring theme in human life of increasing efficiency, decreasing waste, and using empirical methods to decide what matters, rather than uncritically accepting pre-existing ideas of what matters. Thus it is a chapter in the larger narrative that also includes, for example, the folk wisdom of thrift, time and motion study, Taylorism, the Efficiency Movement, and Fordism. Lean manufacturing is often seen, with the benefit of hindsight, as a progression from, or a better attempt at the same goal of, earlier efficiency efforts"that is, picking up where earlier leaders like Taylor or Ford left off, and learning from their mistakes.

Lean Manufacturing focuses on two main points, elimination of waste and reduction of through-put time. Through-put can be described as the time it takes an order to be received until it is on the shipping dock. Elimination of waste can be seen in several different areas. The Seven Wastes are: 1) Motion; any wasted motion to stack or pick up, walk and/or lack of direction or access, 2) Over-production; labor needed to process more than is needed, 3) Transport; wasted effort to transport work and/or multiple locations for the same information, 4) Inventory; maintaining excess inventory of raw materials, work in process, and/or finished goods, along with obsolete or outdated information, 5) Processing; doing more work than is necessary, 6) Waiting; any non-work time, and 7) Defects; everything required to repair or rework form.

For the Steel Foundry Division of Spokane Industries, lean manufacturing is the single most effective strategy that will allow us to improve our quality while reducing our overall costs. In this commitment to Lean, we started with 6S, which is an acronym composed of Safety, Sort, Simplify, Shine, Standardize and Sustain.

Beginning with 6S practices made sense for a number of reasons. It was obvious the old way of approaching business practices was outdated. Our production levels had plateaued and there was obvious waste all around us, but the culture of the employees was not such that change would happen on its own. Doing it the same way for years, our veteran workforce wasn't about to change because in their view the system wasnt broken. 6S provided the visible change we needed to help jumpstart a revamped culture throughout the foundry.

We began implementing 6S by dividing the foundry into ten sections. In each section we did an introduction class on Lean Manufacturing and 6S, basically subscribing to a train-do model. Within a week of the class, each member would actively participate in a kaizen event. In some cases we did the same section multiple times in order to achieve the desired results. All of the foundry employees took part in at least one event.

An additional step of our Lean journey commenced with the understanding of Autonomous Maintenance. Autonomous maintenance is the initial standard in Total Productive Maintenance or TPM. TPM is a proactive approach that essentially looks to reduce inventory (spare parts) and catastrophic failures by preventative measures.

As we proceed, we will continue our 6S and autonomous maintenance efforts while we perform Value Stream Mapping (VSM) of our processes. VSM is the series of processes that directly create value for the external customer by efficiently streamlining our work flows. We will do this to identify safety concerns, waste, bottlenecks, and communication breakdowns.

Tyrus Tenold, President of Foundry Operations for Spokane Industries, states, To this point, a growing asset to Spokane Steel Foundry are our Lean Manufacturing practices. As the culture continues to change, we implement new ideas on a regular basis. We have fully embraced Lean Manufacturing and we now look forward to seeing continuous improvements for the mutual benefits of customers and our ourselves. - 16039

Website Promotion: Article Marketing is Your Best Bet

By Daniel Z. Kane

I spend a minimum of four hours a day promoting websites. Most days it is closer to double that.

I have, literally, tried almost every known website promotion technique. Article marketing is my favorite because it is by far the most effective. But, only if it is done properly.

If you pay attention to the following suggestions, you can expect to be successful.

1. The title of your article is extremely important. The better the title, the more often the article will be reprinted and read.

2. Write conversationally, but not too informally. This is especially important if your topic is serious in nature (health, investing, etc.) or if you hope to me viewed as an expert.

3. Be concise. Avoid going off on tangents.

4. Approximately 75% of your articles should be written on topics related to your website. The other 25% should be written on a wide variety of other topics, so your articles will wind up on the widest possible variety (and number) of websites.

5. Craft your author's box copy carefully. Be certain that your website links are embedded in your best keywords. Most of my sites are on higher education, so my links are embedded in terms like "online degrees", "online colleges", "scholarships" and other terms for which I would like my sites to rank well.

6. Never submit a first draft. Do at least one second draft, even if you only find a few phrases you can improve. Then, proofread very carefully.

Almost nothing can impact your search engine rankings as quickly as article marketing. Do it properly and you'll see great results. - 16039
