PS For Proper Directions

By Mary J Russell

This is the era of technology which reaches great heights as technologists invent new devices. One of the most important things is navigation while traversing unknown territory or places where you are going for the first time. You used to carry maps and try to find the way while driving and this was cumbersome. But now cell phones come with handy devices which can be used to navigate and track. They also tell you where you exactly are.

Nokia has released a new model the 6110 Navigator aimed for the masses and costs just 450/ $ 580. It has almost everything one needs. It is a four band mobile phone with satellite navigational skills. It also has the -GPS (Assisted Global Positioning System) and preinstalled maps which need just a one touch button to start it. It has almost everything that you would want in a mobile phone.

This Nokia 6110 Navigator can also view your position on the map, search destinations, find specific routes and locate services like restaurants, hotels and shops in the nearby areas. It suggests the best possible route to follow either by car or even on foot. It gives clear instructions by voice guidance and help by turning arrows on the map to ensure that you reach the destination fast. The price of Nokia 6110 is 450/ $580

More people are on the move than ever before and the GPS has become a way of life. It has become absolutely necessary to guide you while traveling. Several companies are now bringing out new models which are capable of linking to a GPS kit as people want it and it is a growing demand. This new feature has become part of the system now.

The Mio A710 is small, slender and impressive. GPS comes through the new SiRF Star III and this means that you can even pick up a signal indoors even before you start your journey. Maps of Europe are included and you have to just put it on the side of the unit and start your journey. These maps are easy to use and the mapping software is quite quick in this latest Mio.

When you want to use the GPS maps all that you have to do is to press a button which will show you a flip screen option which can make you flip from landscape to portrait. But this is good only if you are in the car, once you take it out, it may not work.

Then there are new models of mobiles which have the tri-band GSM phones which give them a Blackberry usage. Microsoft's new windows mobile 5 OS gives it push email features and have access to the Word and PowerPoint. It may even have a camera which is easy to handle. The only negative point is that the screen is small and you may need a stylus to operate it.

You become too demanding and feel that with so many applications available it would have been really nice if wifi was also included in the package so that you could read your mail and surf the net when you have the time or are caught in a traffic jam. - 16039
