This a sampling of movie hits for 2008. These are some of the movies I found entertaining in this years crop. Hopefully you will see a couple of movies that you will enjoy.
JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH: Searching for his missing brother, professor Trevor Anderson sets out on a journey that puts him on a journey to the center of earth. This is a newer edition of the 1959 production, that was formed from the science fiction book by renowned author Jules Verne. Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutchinson, Anita Briem, and Seth Myers star in this adventure film.
WALL-E: This picture is an animated, comedy, adventure, sci-fi. Earth has been left behind, an uninhabitable wasteland. Wall-E, a robot built to remove trash, has been left behind to continue cleaning. When Eve, another robot, arrives looking to see if the planet can sustain any life, Wall-E finally has some company. When Eve is retrieved by the spaceship that sent her, Wall-E sneaks aboard, and thus starts the adventure of his robot life.
FORGETTING SAHRAH MARSHALL: Grief stricken from a break up with long time girlfriend Sarah, a television actor, Peter decides to get away to Hawaii to get over his misery. Obviously, upon checking into the resort, the first people he sees are his ex and her new boyfriend, who's bigger than life. This sets up as a thoughtful romantic comedy.
TROPIC THUNDER: With a collection of acting greats this outrageous flick is a classic parody of popular war films. To get better results from his underachieving super stars to see the movie be a success, the desperate director into the jungle, and leaves them there by themselves. His plan is to shock them into producing a war classic, that will be recorded on hidden cameras. Unbelievably, as the director walks over a land mine and is blown apart, the crew is left on its own, and they are convinced everything is just an act, but the bullets flying are actually real. Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Cruise star.
BOLT: Bolt is a fun animation. The star is dog actor Bolt, who in his role on television, is a super hero dog. His problem is that he is convinced he has superpowers. After he is unexpectedly finds himself in a real world situation, he discovers that he is only a normal dog. On a journey to get back home, he finds help, in the form of Mittens, the cat, and Rhino, the hamster.
Jumper: During a near death experience, David Rice discovers an amazing thing. He now knows he can transport himself to anywhere he desires to be, anytime he wants. Later, he becomes aware that there are others with this ability. After years of "jumping" around the planet, he is exposed to hunters that are trying to rid the world of jumpers. He now must battle for his life, as these paladins believe he should die.
THE INCREDIBLE HULK: This feature film tells a story about Dr. Bruce Banner, who, due to a military accident, has become the Incredible Hulk. This box office hit tells of the marvel universe comic super hero the green Hulk. Key actors include Edward Norton, Liz Tyler, Tim Roth. This film is directed by Louis Leterrier. The film style is sci-fi/action thriller.
PINEAPPLE EXPRESS: Heavy pot smoker Dale Denton, in a stroke of bad luck, has seen a bad cop, and the local drug king pin, murder someone. The killers know he has seen what's gone down. Knowing they've seen him, he drops his joint of pineapple express, and takes off. This joint is such a unique type of weed, that it is possible to find out who has it. The "fun" is on, as Dale and his dealer Saul are desperately hiding from the bad guys.
ROLE MODELS: Danny and Wheeler, who sell energy drinks, might be seeing some hard jail time after trashing the company truck. The way they can avoid being locked up is by doing community service. Their task will be to become mentors in a community service program. Let the fun begin.
