Why are we obsessed with the Ipod?

By Jim Solista

Why does the apple iPod draw such an immense devotion that borders on worship from its followers? Why do users feel compelled to upgrade to the latest model as soon as it hits the shelves?

In fact, the iPod has established itself so well in the minds of the public that very few people actually know that it is possible to purchase an mp3 player which is not an iPod. Check out the following characteristics of the iPod to see what made it the "most wanted invention" of the decade:

Firstly, the iPod was the first ever handheld device to store over a gigabyte of data. This was a massive leap in technology from its predecessors.

The mp3 players at the time which were circulating in the market were very nerdy looking, which was the main reason why the iPod's glossy and sleek design with its modern LCD screen made it a huge hit.

Lots of sports people including joggers found the solid state based players, like the Nano, very handy and easy to carry around. Also, there was no problem of "skipping" as was the case with hard-disk players.

Itunes was a huge success for Apple as it allowed people to acquire songs at realistic prices in a safe and legal environment.

When the ipod first arrived it was the first time you could realistically carry around hundreds of songs and which was great if you were going to parties .

The iPod's interface is extremely user-friendly. Further the scroll wheel enhances the entire music experience with the iPod as you can find the song you are looking for in a matter of seconds.

Apple is constantly improving its product. In only a few short years it has evolved from the lowly mp3 player into one of the world's leading video players and phone system.

You're also able to download applications to further enhance your device from playable games to tax assistance software.

The sound quality of the ipod is said to be way ahead of other players on the market, especially the treble levels.

The player can also come with some great speakers today if you look around for some good brand names like samsung. If you have the correct set, you could have sound quality to match your old hifi.

With the iPod you dont have to worry about the battery life so much as the technology has improved playback time. In fact the Nano can stay alive for about 5 hours between charges!

You can buy great covers to style the front of your ipod to suit your tastes. You can even get mahogany!

The ITunes software is commonly updated and improved - far more so than that of leading rival manufacturers.

The player is more resilient than many other devices and will survive drops and bumps much better.

Quite clearly, the iPod has a great deal going for it. Apple really has outdone itself with California's hit mobile music device. Hopefully, they'll be around for many years to come and continue to enhance and update this amazing player. - 16039
