Xerox Phaser 6110 - Maintain Space In Your Office

By Ben Pate

When you are thinking about copying, Xerox has to be one of the first names that comes to mind. Year in and year out they put out products that are very competitive and often do it for far less than the competition. The Xerox Phaser 6110 Printer falls right into that category and once again, you have to be amazed that Xerox for some reason is able to do this when the competition has just not figured it out yet.

You almost cannot believe that they pack the features into a printer this size. At 15"x14"x10", you need nothing more than a tiny space to make use of this printer. This is ideal when you are working in a small office setting or a tightly crammed desk space.

For such an inexpensive model, you are almost amazed that it has a processor of 300 MHz and a 600dpi x 2400dpi resolution. Features like this are found on printers cost twice this much and here we get it for less than $200!

As we said, with every printer there are pros and cons and the cons of this printer seem to the ppm speed could use a little boost. Pumping out 17ppm is not bad for the price point, but you would think a laser printer could do a better job. There is also no double sided printing option that hurts this model as with today's economy, everyone is looking to save every penny and second they can. If you want to double print, you are going to have to print it out page by page and flip the paper manually. This can be quite time consuming and hurts the value of this printer.

If you are looking for the competition, you would be pointed to the HP Color LaserJet CP1215 and the Samsung CLP-315, but the comparison is in features, not price. You are looking at pretty much the same printer when you sit them side by side, but the Xerox comes in at about half of what these models will cost.

Utilizing the 6100 toner cartridge, the Xerox Phaser 6110 can handle basic image printing, color documents and presentations and can load paper up to legal size. It has a bin capacity of 150 pages and an output capacity of 100 pages, more than enough. It also has a decent monthly duty cycle of over 24,000 pages.

This is not a printer that is meant for a busy office, but it can definitely do the job of a home office or regular home use. Abusing the printer has gotten reviews of overheating, but that is nothing that should be of concern if you are using it in the right setting and that is home office and home usage. - 16039
