How do I get out of the Google Sandbox

By Brent Sweet

If you have read anything about SEO you have heard of the Google Sandbox. It is basically a rumored filter that Google has that prevents new sites from reaching the top of the search engine index.

So you want to know if it exists? I really can't answer that. The only true way to know would be to register a domain, optimize the page and build links to it all on the same day, have Google index all those and see if you jump to number one. I don't know of any SEO that is that good!

I have a site that I built that was on the first page of Google for a competitive keyword in less than 30 days. I will admit that after the first 14 days of domain registration it was indexed below position one hundred and then jumped to number 40. But couldnt that have been a result of my increased optimization efforts.

In conclusion, I think the sandbox is not there. If it does exist it doesn't take a site long to get out of it if you know how to optimize offsite correctly. I don't think there is anybody out there that can expect going into it that they should be on page 1 in less than 30 days. Most places say 3-6 months.

What people refer to as the sandbox for me, is natural progression. I think that you have to pass sites to get ranked, and it takes some time to pass a site that has been on Google for a while. - 16039
