Understanding Animation

By Dennis Durrel

Cartoons are on every day, plus the Walt Disney corporation has formed a dominion with it. animation is an art form that both kids and adults could enjoy.

Animation is basically a series of images that have been created by an artist and are rapidly displayed together. This display will create an illusion that the picture is moving. This is due mainly to the slight differences in each picture.

There are several different designs of animation. Cell animation is perhaps the most typically well-known kind of animation.

This style has been used to make the animated films that we are familiar with. In this style of animation, the animator will draw on paper and each photograph is drawn to be slightly different from the one before it.

The pictures are then copied onto a transparency and another artist colors the cartoon. These are then photographed one at a time, and then the movie is connected and play at a higher acceleration to make the images seem to be moving.

Stop motion animation has also been applied over the years. Through this kind of animation, the artist physically moves the objects for each picture. Probably one of the most success films that uses stop motion animation is Tim Burtons The Nightmare Before Christmas. Through this motion image, the art of stop motion animation was actually recognized for what it can achieve.

Perhaps one of the largest advancement in animation has been the evolution of computer animation. With this toool the artist uses a computer to digitally create the images that they are going to put together to make the movie or television show. - 16039
